How to monitor Google reviews for multiple locations

By Yoga · Updated 16 October 2026

Four ways to keep an eye on the Google rating and reviews of every branch, from free to fully automated, and what to track for each location.

Why one dashboard matters

A business with 15 branches has 15 Google ratings. Customers choose between your branch and a competitor based on that number, and a single slow month can pull a branch from 4.8 to 4.5 before anyone at head office notices. Checking 15 Maps pages every morning doesn't happen, so the problems are found late.

What you want is simple: every location's rating on one screen, the branches that are slipping at the top, and an alert the day a 1 to 3 star review arrives, sent to the person who can fix it.

Option 1: check Google Maps by hand

Free, and fine for two or three locations. Save each branch in a Google Maps list, open them once a week and write the rating and review count in a spreadsheet. It breaks down quickly: it takes time, nobody does it on busy weeks, and you only see bad reviews days later.

Option 2: Google Business Profile notifications

If you manage the locations in Google Business Profile, turn on review notifications so owners and managers get an email for new reviews. It's free and fast. The downside: each location sends separate emails, there is no comparison between branches and no trend, and the emails often land with the wrong person.

Tip: add each branch manager as a manager of their own location, so the alert reaches the person who can act.

Option 3: a review management platform

Review management platforms collect reviews from Google and other sites into one inbox, with reports and reply tools. They're the right choice for large chains that also need Facebook, Tripadvisor or industry sites. They are usually priced per location per month, which adds up for a chain of small branches, and they show you their dashboard, not the numbers your team actually works with.

Option 4: your own dashboard with alerts

A small custom tool pulls each branch's rating and newest reviews from Google on a schedule, stores the history, and shows one page with every branch. Bad reviews go to Telegram, WhatsApp or Slack. Running costs are low: with a weekly check and caching it is a few API calls per branch per month.

This is what I built for SemuaCabang: one client follows 18 branches with targets (for example "every branch at 4.9 or more"), a trend per branch, and a Monday report on Telegram. Try the live demo.

Developers can build the data part themselves with the Google Places API guide.

More reviews also stabilise the rating. Give every branch its own Google review link and QR code, and reply to reviews with the free reply templates.

Questions

Does Google send an alert for new reviews?

Google Business Profile can email the owners and managers of a profile about new reviews, but each location sends its own emails and there is no overview across locations. With many branches the emails are easy to miss.

Can I get all reviews of my locations through an API?

The Google Business Profile API returns all reviews for locations you own or manage, after Google approves your API access. The Places API works for any business without approval, but returns only up to 5 reviews per request, which is enough to catch new ones if you check often.

How often should a multi-location business check reviews?

Daily for alerts on bad reviews, weekly for the rating trend of each branch. A weekly summary to head office and an instant alert to the branch manager works well.
